Factory audit Battery Module production and integration in China

Depending on the supplier the audit of the battery module production and the integration can be conducted at one production facility or it is necessary to visit two production facilities.

The audit includes:

1. Compliance of minimum requirements, manufacturing process, supplier′s operating procedures

2. Risk assessment of manufacturing/integrator facilities.

3. Material receiving, handling and tracking

4. Incoming Quality Assurance and spot checking

5. Material tracking, through cell manufacturing and cell results

6. Binning ESS cells, to like voltages, for balanced strings. Trace by batch and serial numbers, to project deliver.

7. Non-conformities detection and risk assessment of battery′s manufacturing process

Production monitoring cell production

1. Materials inspection and traceability: from raw materials (chemical and compounds) to final product

2. Manufacturing Quality process control: Cell battery

a. Incoming Quality Control: purity of raw material, compliance of product quality requirements

b. Verification of anodes and cathodes production.

i. Composition and preparation of the slurry mixture (binder, solvent, active materials)

ii. Coating foil and drying process: homogeneity and continuous placing, defect-free foil, monitoring sensors, thickness verification, drying machine status.

iii. Calendering and cutting process: conditions of compression stage (active material-foil) and foils cutting.

Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)

1. FAT preparation, witnessing and reporting

2. Process development, documentation. Review of FAT protocols

3. Hosting / executing, reporting and ongoing issue tracking and support

4. Close-out / certifications, reporting and support.

5. Compliance with contractual requirements.

6. Risk assessment derived from any manufacturing and testing issues that may lead BESS to under-performance in the field and/or unsafe operation.
